TORONTO TOLDJA! Juan Carlos Fresnadillo To Direct Highlander Remake

Earlier today, we scooped that director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, in Toronto for that premiere of his latest movie The Burglars, was the leading-runner to helm Summit Entertainment’s re-imagining of Highlander, the 1986 fantasy sci-fi film starring Christopher Lambert about immortals who fight with swords, and live and die through the mantra that there might be just one. Well, the distributor just confirmed that Fresnadillo is the only person to direct it: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will direct Summit Entertainments re-imagination from the cult film HIGHLANDER co-funded by RCR Media Group. Summits HIGHLANDER is compiled by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Neal H. Mortiz and Peter Davis will produce the project together with Enrique Lpez Lavigne and Belen Atienza. RCR Media Groups concepts Rui Costa Reis and Eliad Josephson will executive produce the film. Justin Lin will even executive produce. Summit acquired the privileges to remake the cult classic from Davis – Panzer Productions, Corporation. in May of 2008. Production about the film is slated to start spring of 2012. In HIGHLANDER, after centuries of dueling to outlive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront all of the his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for that Prize. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed 28 Days LATER in addition to Burglars, that is premiering in the Toronto Film Festival.
